I have turned all my programmer co-workers into “hair band” guys (get it?). They are the best, cheapest, most accessible thing for tidying up USB and other ‘tech’ cables that we all have to keep up with and tote around. I keep three or four spares clipped inside my bag on a carabiner at all times.

They legit are. Always accessible, sooo cheap, and the black ones look pretty sleek. Good on you for converting your co-workers. I use them to tidy up USB chargers all the time, especially on my night table.

RE: EDC Purse Dump
I wonder, what would your Purse Dump look like if you had to a hop on a plane to the unitedstate?
I ask because I know women who fly the not-so-friendly skies and my advise is limited and I wondered if I left anything out.
Do a, ‘Pretend EDC Purse Dump’?
Elise Xavier says
I should definitely do one of these. Or a full article even exploring the ins and outs of what you should/could carry on a plane. We’ll be flying sometime in the next few months so I’ll have to think about it anyway. Good idea! Though yup, definitely would rather make a full blown article about it than just one EDC dump since I think it’d be more handy.
Thank so much for the idea!

Well, I no longer have hair long enough for a ponytail (I did for about 30+ years) but don’t discount the multitasking possibilities of those hair elastics. :)
Great for holding things like Altoids tin kits together and the don’t get ‘crunchy’ nearly as fast as normal office rubber bands.
Elise Xavier says
30+ years of long hair is honestly more will than I could ever muster for long hair. I get in the habit of chopping my hair off out of being driven crazy by it probably every 2 years.. and then regrow – rinse and repeat lol! It’s a lot of work!
Definitely hair elastics are super handy. Especially if you invest in the kind that doesn’t break easily (like the dollar store ones I used to buy soooo often). They don’t get crunchy at all in comparison to regular rubber bands.
Elise Xavier says
Oh, forgot to mention, I actually use them around the house for stuff like cord management (instead of twist ties or rubber bands) – so I basically just keep making up uses for them, survival related or not, haha.

Bobby Pins – for marking territory? j/k.
I live with a girl who leaves these everywhere in our house. I think she’s suggesting I get better at picking locks…
helot says
Now that’s funny.
Elise Xavier says
I mark my territory with elastic bands usually. Thomas even wears one around his wrist sometimes because I ask for them so often. Also Avery loves playing with them so I leave them scattered around the floor, lol! So yup, basically at this point, any hair products are definitely marks of territory! :)
