Thomas hates the Pingo, but I love it, and so have officially stolen it from him ;). Bought a backup phone this past month – a dumbphone with insane standby time that should be great if I leave it charged and off in case of an emergency.

I like the idea of having a back up phone with a long standby time. Seen that phone for £20 here in the UK.

Yeap that cheap price is a huge part of why we got it. Ended up grabbing a second so that Thomas and I each have one.

How do you use the backup phone? I love the idea and want to do the same. Can you use pre-paid cards with that phone?
Elise Xavier says
Oh yes, definitely can use pre-paid cards with the phone.
Obviously first and foremost it’s battery life is incredible. It has amazing reception. And you don’t even need a SIM card in it at all to be able to call emergency services – just dial and you’re through. It’s an excellent tool in case your regular phone loses battery in an emergency and you still want to text – just pop your sim card in and you’re set.
Actually we should probably make a full article on this but basically – yeah lots of good reasons to get a dumb phone as a backup! :)
