Today, I asked Thomas to pull out his 5 current favourite knives, and this was the result. Of course, these top 5 may change by next week, but for now, these are his favourites. I’m personally not sure why the Recon 1 didn’t make it to the list considering he’s been carrying it for about a month straight – even around the kitchen. Who knows!

I picked up one of the Emerson CQC-6Ks. I have found that when closing the knife blade there is absolutely no sense of “k-chunk” when it is folded back into the handle.
It seems as though the blade just drifts smoothly closed without any feeling of detent or locking down into the handle, and it is perfectly willing to stop at any point… even while the tip is still exposed.
It also seems that it’s a very easy for the knife to drift back open by a quarter inch while still in your pocket, again exposing the point… tip UP! … right there where your hand is going to slide down it when you reach for change.
Have you had this experience?
I’m curious if this is a factor of the nice construction, or whether it is a flaw/fault in my unit.

I just pulled out my 6K and the detent sucks the blade back into the handle pretty strongly (and holds it in firmly), so it seems like it may be yours. Give Kershaw a shout, they have excellent customer service!
