I have all but the SOG. The BK2 is a monster – its not the first knife I reach for when I go hiking, but whenmy buddies come over to ‘gear up’ in my shed for a trek, its always popular. Its weight and design inspire a feeling on confidence and security, which non knife guys reallt dig. I don’t find it super useful in a day to day sense, but you’d probably pick it if you were expecting the apocalypse.
The SRK is new to me and I’m just getting my head around it. It feels like a great hybrid knife. I like it the same way I like my Getber Strongarm. Definitely a good comfy grip.
The bushman is good, but I don’t quite know what Cold Steel want us to use it for. If it was a bit smaller it would bw a great camp/food knife. Its too thin to baton, as I broke one right in the middle on some straight wood. its luckily so cheap that it didnt bother me much, but the box sells it as a hard use knife and i would think light batoning would be fine.

Aye, the BK-2 is definitely a fun toy to show off to people! I definitely appreciate the versatility of the SRK and the Bushman has its interesting quirks but at the end of the day I find the handle type (rolled, hollow steel) lacking in terms of comfort. I look forward to testing it out with rougher use to see how the toughness holds up!
Thanks for dropping by Pete!

I’ve had the Cold Steel SRK since the eighties. It’s a stout workhorse of a blade. Easy to keep sharp, it is carbon steel, so you have to keep it maintained to prevent rust. The thick blade isn’t geared toward surgical work, but it will open ammo crates all day.

I wish the old school Carbon V SRK’s were still available, I would snap one up in a heartbeat.
Thanks for dropping by (and making me jealous) BT!

You can still find the Carbon V SRKs used on ebay from time to time. Got mine for about $100 a couple of years ago.

I have the worst luck with bids on eBay. :( I think we should just complain until Cold Steel brings back some Carbon V blades!

i have an SRK with the san mai blade. its a terrific knife. no nonsense workhorse
Thomas Xavier says
I find it very well balanced with a very utilitarian feel. Definitely a good choice for an everyday workhorse.

I’ve has BK2 for about 6 months now. I bought it because I was looking for something that’s bit more of a tool rather than simply a knife, but I didn’t want it to be too long bladed.
Out-of-box it is not superb, I had to do several modification to it. You know the basics like stripping the coatng and giving it a nice patina, plus I changed nuts and bolts to stainless steel ones and wrapped the handle. Everyone knows that the sheath sucks (because it is a heavy knife, belt loop is too flimsy), but I just strapped the thing right on to my thigh, so it wont move around.
All in all very sturdy and reliable knife, can certainly take some punishment.

I can’t wait to test it out properly! I had no idea the screws were not stainless. WTF were they thinking.
Thanks for dropping by Joel.
